The Ontario Farmland Trust is calling for the federal government to take action to protect the farmland contained within the Duffins Rouge Agricultural Preserve (DRAP).

The 4700 acres of prime farmland and important natural features encompassed by DRAP were previously protected within the Greenbelt Plan, however recent changes to the boundaries of the Greenbelt jeopardize their future. Development on the DRAP lands would negatively impact Ontario’s agricultural sector, the public, and might affect the viability of the adjacent Rouge National Urban Park.

This is why OFT is calling on the Honourable Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Environment and Climate Change Canada, to intervene and prevent the Province from removing protections for DRAP.
