This 100-acre property is located in Caledon and features a mix of farm and conservation land. Credit Valley Conservation was a key partner in completing this easement and helping protect the property’s natural areas, as part of the core Greenlands System in Peel and the headwaters of the Credit River.
The land was generously donated by Lorna Bethell who expressed interest in protecting her farm after learning that Belain Farm had been protected by an OFT easement, which is just down the road from her property in Caledon. Lorna’s property became a priority for OFT given the rising interest in preserving land in this community and the threats to farmland and agricultural long-term sustainability in Peel Region and the Greenbelt area.
The conservation easement on this farm property brings permanent protection to prime agricultural soils, a significant wetland, wildlife habitat, and forest features.
