OFT Protected Farms Featured at Canada Blooms

In March, OFT was invited to be part of a very unique photography and garden exhibit at the Canada Blooms Garden Festival in Toronto. Two of OFT’s protected farms were featured here: Belain Farm and Little Rock Farm.

The installation was titled, ‘SEVERANCE: A Journey Through Southwestern Ontario’s Agricultural Landscapes’. It was a large boxy structure with a ‘garden’ on the roof that simulated a hedgerow between tobacco fields.

The exhibit challenged visitors to enter the box and take a break from the busy show to absorb the rotating farm images inside and visualize how farming landscapes are changing in Ontario.

Throughout the week-long event, the installation generated much interest and conversation, and even received an Honourable Mention Award from the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects.

Thank you to landscape architect, Victoria Taylor, photographer Constant Van Ruymbeke and builder Jonas Spring for making this special exhibit happen!
