OFT Celebrating 10 Years of Farmland Protection
Momentum is building for improved farmland protection in Ontario, and friends of farmland will soon be gathering to celebrate a decade of progress as part of the Ontario Farmland Trust’s (OFT) 10th Anniversary event in November.
“This is an event for farmers and the agricultural community, conservationists, local food advocates, municipal representatives, volunteers and rural landowners to get together and celebrate the substantive achievements that have been made to advance the protection of farmland and agriculture in Ontario”. Says Norm Ragetlie OFT Chair. “It’s also about the future and a fundraiser for the Farmland Forever campaign. This is an opportunity to build our capacity to protect more farmland in the future.”
The farmland celebration will be held the evening of November 20th in the Gambrel barn at Country Heritage Park in Milton. It will feature recognition of leaders in farmland protection, a locally-sourced dinner, silent auction, music and an entertaining talk by playwright and humorist Dan Needles.
Proceeds from the 10th Anniversary event will support OFT’s $1 million Farmland Forever campaign to expand the protection of Ontario farmland through direct land securement, policy, research and education. OFT invites everyone interested in farmland protection to join this celebration – early bird registration closes November 1st.
Tickets for individuals or tables of 8 can be purchased online here.
