OFT 2015 AGM and Farm Tour

On Saturday, June 27th Ontario Farmland Trust Board of Directors, staff, members and supporters gathered  for a farm tour as well as OFT’s 2015 Annual General Meeting. The event was held at a nearby farm between Guelph and Erin that OFT is working to protect. Despite the rain and forceful winds, a strong showing of supporters turned out for the event.

The day started off with social conversation over afternoon tea and local strawberries; an instant hit. The Annual General Meeting followed to discuss OFT’s past year’s work and activities and to welcome new board members Bernard Pope and Bethanee Jensen. The OFT 2014 Annual Report was distributed.

Excited for the farm tour, participants braved the torrential downpour to learn about the site’s ecology and farming activities and to witness the beauty of the significant wetlands onsite. Many remarked at the bounty of the farm’s produce and were given the opportunity to sample some lettuce and kale. Enthusiasm was felt during discussion surrounding the current state of farmland protection.

OFT would like to thank all participants for their support and attendance. With your help we are able to continue our work of “Protecting Farmland Forever”. Please consider a contribution to our current farm protection project. To donate, please click here.
