Developing a New Partnership Approach to Managing Protected Farmlands
OFT is excited to announce new funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to support the development of a partnership model for managing protected farmlands.
This funding is part of the Seed grant stream and will help provide OFT with the ‘seed’ capacity needed to explore partnership models with two other land trust organizations: the Bruce Trail Conservancy and Ontario Heritage Trust.
Working together we will implement farm management pilot projects for BTC’s Pinnacle Rock Farm (Grey County) and OHT’s Scotsdale Farm (Halton Region), returning agriculture to each of these protected farm sites. As well, OFT will develop a model for collaboration that will sustain local food and farming on 20 additional farm properties held in trust by BTC and OHT, keeping 2500 acres in agricultural production in Ontario.
Thank you Ontario Trillium Foundation and OFT’s friends and supporters for helping to make this exciting project happen!
