Winter Webinar Series (Dec 2025) – Understanding Farming as a System for Sustainable Management

Our popular winter webinar series returns, free and open to all, covering topics on the latest development pressures on farmland, innovative solutions, strategies in stewarding farmland, and ways you can get involved locally.

Farms are complex, interconnected systems where soil, water, crops, livestock, and people all play a role. Join Northern Roots Soil Solutions’ Claire Coombs, Certified Crop Advisor, and Laura Niell, Soil Health & Field Advisor, as they introduce the principles of systems thinking in farming, looking at how soil health, water, biodiversity, crop and livestock production, and economic decisions are all interconnected.

About Claire & Laura:

Claire brings over a decade of agronomy experience and deep field knowledge. Laura adds expertise in biological systems, government lab work (CFIA and Environment Canada), agricultural tile drainage, seed sales, and marketing — plus hands-on farming experience and certification as a drone pilot. They offer a boots-on-the-ground, microscope-in-hand approach to their work at Northern Roots Soil Solutions that blends real-world agronomy with soil biology and regenerative thinking to help farmers build healthier soils and more profitable operations.
