OFT is searching for an Events and Community Outreach Assistant!

Job Duties
The Events and Community Outreach Assistant will work closely with OFT’s Executive Director, staff, and volunteers to support OFT’s Outreach and Education programming.
OFT Led Events (40%)
- Assist with planning and coordinating OFT’s annual Farmland Forum
- Assist with the online delivery of this hybrid event
- Liaise with volunteers, presenters, partners, and stakeholders in advance to ensure the day runs smoothly
- Work with the venue and other vendors to coordinate logistics of the day
- Work with the Communications and Development Manager to coordinate promotion, sponsorship, and media attention
- Take steps to ensure increased attendance and maintain a balanced budget
- Celebration events
- Assist with planning and organizing celebrations for newly protected farms
- Attend celebrations across the province to ensure they run smoothly
- Annual General Meeting
- Assist with planning OFT’s Annual General Meeting
Community Outreach & Engagement (40%)
- to help OFT build awareness of its various programs to appropriate audiences
Data Management for Evaluation and Reporting (10%)
- Track Key Performance Indicators for events and compile data for reporting
- Participate in an annual review of our community outreach strategies
- Suggest recommendations for continuous improvement of OFT activities
Fundraising, as shared by all staff (10%)
- Research and write grant applications to various foundations
- Explore sponsorship opportunities
- Assist with appeals and seasonal mailings
Required Experience, Skills & Attributes Include:
- Passionate about agriculture, farmland protection, land conservation, and making a positive impact for future generations
- Experience with event planning and community outreach
- Well organized and able to set priorities, develop work schedules, monitor progress towards goals, and track important data, information and activities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong visual content creation skills
- Team-player with a positive attitude and commitment to working cooperatively with others
- Motivated and able to work independently
- Experience with social media platforms
- Professional experience using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to travel at least once/month. Requires a driver’s licence and access to a vehicle to travel throughout the province to farms and various events.
Assets Include:
- Career interests in agriculture, environmental and land conservation, land use planning, non-profit organizations, or a related field
- Experience or familiarity with the practice of Knowledge Translation and Transfer (or equivalent extension-type work)
- Video editing skills considered an asset
- A sense of humour 😊
