Welcome to our new team members!
OFT is pleased to announce and welcome three new people to our team. Sarah and Danielle are joining the organization as Farmland Program Assistants for the summer while Heather is the new Policy and Land Program Assistant. Sarah, Danielle, and Heather will be working alongside OFT’s Executive Director, staff, and volunteers to promote our mission. They will be representing OFT at community events, as well as taking on research, fundraising, and office responsibilities.
Heather recently completed a Master’s in Geography at the University of Guelph. She believes farmland protection is critical in ensuring the agri-food sector’s viability now and into the future. With her previous contributions to various food and farm related initiatives in Southern Ontario and Newfoundland, as well as knowledge from her Master’s of Geography, which explored the parallel processes of rural economic diversification and agricultural diversification into agritourism in Essex County, Heather brings a wealth of knowledge to our team.
Sarah is going into her fourth year of Environment and Resource Management at the University of Guelph. She has experience at OFT through her work as a Farmland Program Assistant last summer and is very excited to return to the same position on the team this year. Sarah hopes to use her experience at OFT and knowledge of the environment to support OFT’s outreach program. Her passion for protecting local resources and developing a sustainable future will be a great asset to our team.
Danielle is in her first year of a Masters in Rural Planning and Development at the University of Guelph. She is passionate about resource management and agriculture conservation. During her time with OFT, Danielle wishes to use her community outreach skills to build the OFT membership base and increase awareness throughout the community about farmland preservation and OFT’s mission. Danielle’s passion for sustainability and extensive outreach skills will be a wonderful addition to our team.
We are excited to welcome Sarah, Danielle, and Heather to the OFT team and look forward to working together over the next few months.
